What changes the price
- Hotel level: 5★ hotels in Colombo and on the coast cost two to three times more than good 3★ hotels.
- Group size: the vehicle and guide are shared, so bigger groups pay less per person.
- Meals: breakfast only, half board or full board.
- Season: Christmas, New Year and the Perahera are the busiest weeks.
- Extras: safaris, the Ella train, whale watching and entrance tickets.
Vehicle costs
A private car or van with driver usually costs about $85 to $100 a day including fuel. Coaches for large groups are quoted for the whole tour.
