Day 1: Airport to Sigiriya

We meet you at arrivals and drive about four hours to the cultural triangle. Evening at your hotel.

Day 2: Sigiriya and Dambulla

Climb Sigiriya, the Lion Rock, early before the heat. In the afternoon visit the Dambulla cave temples. See our Sigiriya guide.

Day 3: Kandy

On the way, stop at a spice garden. In Kandy visit the Temple of the Tooth and watch a cultural dance show. See our Kandy guide.

Day 4: Nuwara Eliya

Drive into the tea country, visit a tea factory and see waterfalls on the way. Cool evenings, so bring a light jacket.

Day 5: Train to Ella

Take the famous hill-country train, then visit Nine Arch Bridge and Ravana Falls. See our Ella guide.

Day 6: Down to the south coast

Drive to the beach. On the way you can add a Yala jeep safari or an elephant park. Evening at Mirissa or Bentota.

Day 7: Galle and the airport

Walk around Galle Fort, then drive on the expressway to the airport for your flight.

Make it your own

  • Less driving: skip Ella and spend two nights in Kandy.
  • More beach: add two or three nights on the coast.
  • Ramayana sites: follow our Ramayana trail instead.
